about
Born in a Marseille family, Bonnie Li grew up in Hong Kong, began her adult life in Paris and is now based in Berlin. She writes, composes and sings her melancholic and touching ‘Trip Pop’ in three languages (English, French & Chinese Mandarin). From her different travels which profoundly imprinted her, Bonnie Li wanders recurrent themes like ‘women as heroines’ and ‘relationships’.
While her last releases - debut album “Wǒ Men" (2019) & EP "Plane-Crash" (2017) - was praised by the media for their originality and cinematic dimensions (Clash Magazine, Earmilk, Rough Trade etc), performing live is definitely another of her strongest suits. Charismatic and touching in her one-woman-show, the singer balances between tension and release while adding to the experience with live samples and mixing vocal harmonies with airy synths, all on deep and catchy beats.
With her 1st single “Voodoo Doll”, from her EP ‘Short Stories’, she won several French national music contests and was booked to Marsatac & Les Francofolies festival. 'Mallory', the 1st single of her EP 'Plane-Crash' was described by The Line of Best Fits (Uk) as a "smoky Portishead-esque glittery Trip Hop song", and her second single from the same EP 'We should go to sleep as the Birds are singing' was premiered by Rolling Stone Magazine (It) calling it “Dark and Fascinating”. The music video of her latest single 'I want you to Die' from the debut album 'Wǒ Men' reached more than 260k views on Youtube and was later synched on ‘Moloch’ (Fr-Be), the Fantasy-Noir Arte serie of Arnaud Malherbe starring Marine Vatch & Olivier Gourmet.
Bonnie Li will now release 4 new singles, building up to her 2nd full length album 'Le Bleu du Rouge', which the artist describes herself as "a stroll on the amorous shores".
With her 1st single 'All about You' just out (FIP Nouveautés), Bonnie Li will now release her 2nd single 'So Hard', which features French songwriter and artist Coeur.
Provoking just as much as she charms, Coeur juggles the most delicate, intimate emotions and the most intense outbursts of rage with ease. Formerly a member of the trash punk duo Schlaasss, she transformed into Coeur with the decision to write and create on her own. As a leading figure in the LGBT community, a committed feminist and self-proclaimed godmother of the "Minouche Mafia", Cœur sings and celebrates love in all its forms. On stage with her Drag-Queens dancers, she sings and raps on hard-hitting instrumentals, with poignant and contagious energy.
About the new song 'So Hard' Bonnie & Coeur say: "When the communication of the ears and the eyes fail but the heart wants to continue the fight, lost in advance since no one sees or hears each other.
'J’me prends les pieds dans les pétales et ça fait mal, mal, mal' - ('My feet caught up in the petals, and it hurts, hurts, hurts')."
'So Hard' will be released on all major platforms through Icons Creating Evil Art on December 10, 2021.
lyrics
So hard for you to say, so hard for me to see
J’attends l’écho
So hard for you to say, so hard for me to see
So hard for you to say,
So hard,
So hard for me to see
Et tu n’fais rien, rien
So hard for you to say,
Et tu n’dis rien
So hard for me to see,
Et ça fait mal, mal, mal
So hard for you to say,
So hard,
So hard for me to see
Et tu n’dis rien, rien
So hard for you to say,
Et tu n’dis rien
So hard for me to see,
Et ça fait mal, mal, mal
So hard for you to say,
So hard,
So hard for me to see
Et tu n’dis rien, rien
So hard for you to say,
Et tu n’dis rien
So hard for me
